We're so proud of all of our member shows and teams. And in this series, we're going to check in with them to see how the experience has been so far.
Today we check in with Pop Culture Period Piece, as they are poised to return for their second season.
Every episode, hosts Laura and July pick a piece of historical fiction or biopic or some other piece of content focused on history and they discuss their takes and how accurately it represents the era in which it's set. Come for the movies, stay for the deep discussions of costuming.
Read what Laura and July had to say about their experience:
How long have you been a part of Trident?
A full year!
What initially drew you to Trident?
We knew several other artists who were 'abuzz' about Trident.
What was the inspiration / origin story for your show?
We were in Princeton for work and all we talked about was our favorite TV Shows, Movies, and books, and we realized we both loved historically based media, but also had lots of thoughts on them.
What is your favorite part of the experience of putting up your show?
We love a great excuse to watch a period piece we either love or have never seen and get to talk to eachother about it!
What is a memory from working on the show that stands out to you?
We record several states apart, but there were two times that we got to record together in Julie's podcast booth. It was extremely hard for us because we are not used to seeing each other, so we laughed most of the time. Those were the hardest episodes to edit, but the most fun to record!
What are you most proud of about the show?
The Ever After episode is a favorite.
What is something you learned through the process of producing your show?
That it takes a lot more than recording to create a podcast. For our show, we have to decide what movie, watch the movie, record, and edit. So each episode takes at least 4-5 hours to create.
What is something you are looking forward to about your show?
This season we are trying to talk about either newer films or films we have not seen before. It is exciting to show up to discuss movies that we do not know each other's opinion on.
